SmartSkim®
capturing floating solids

  • Scroll down to see the photos for this presentation of the SmartSkim® Crossflow System skimming and capturing floating solids.

  • The top photo shows the Suction Skimmer continuously removing a layer of floating solids. In this case the solids are remnants from a high pressure parts washing operation.

  • Skimmed fluids are pumped through the Crossflow Separator. Over 40 square feet of non-clog open channel separation surface is housed inside the Crossflow System.

  • In the second photo you can see the angled bottom on the bottom of the Crossflow System tank

  • Solids readily collect at the bottom discharge port.

  • Unlike traditional tortuous pathway coalescers, the SmartSkim® will not blind over. It can fill up with solids but you will stay on line, unlike plugged up coalescers.

  • A periodic removal of built up solids is simple with the angled bottom discharge.

  • Photo third from the top shows a top down view of this job. Oils and floating solids are trapped inside the separator. Clean, treated wash solution gravity drains back to the tank on the left.

  • The bottom photo shows the inside of the Crossflow System with the platepack removed. Floating solids have been trapped inside the separator as shown on this nice volunteer’s hand. These can easily be flushed out for treatment.

  • Most separation systems use flat bottom tanks which must be be shovelled out. SmartSkim® makes maintenance easy.
