SmartSkim® magnetic separator
in use

In line magnetic separator installed on suction side of the spindle pump.

Housing removed to show magnetic core.

magnetic core removed.

Partially scraped to show depth of contaminant capture.

Prior to using the SmartSkim magnetic separator, this was damaging the coolant pumps, damaging expensive rotating unions, then back out to damage the tooling.

Showing the type of ferrous contaminants removed. Taking this contaminant out of your coolant flow immediately improves parts quality.

Magnet scraped clean and put back into its housing. A bypass line can be easily installed for cleaning. All of the contaminants shown above were removed without using any consumables.

  • This is a gallery page showing the SmartSkim® in line magnetic separator deployed directly on the coolant circulation line of a machine tool

  • This magnetic separator is deployed on the suction side of the spindle pump

  • Prior to installing the SmartSkim®, all of this contaminant was circulating through the system, damaging the coolant pumps, damaging expensive rotating unions and damaging the tooling, not to mention parts quality.

  • All of this contaminant has been removed without the use of costly consumables. There are no consumables of any kind.

  • To clean, simply remove the bowl, scrape off the captured contaminants, replace the magnet and restart.

  • A bypass line can be easily installed so that the machine tool does not have to be shut off during magnetic separator cleaning.

  • Unlike traditional magnetic separators, these cores are constructed from rare earth magnets, which are significantly more powerful. The rare earth magnetic cores for these separators have a 50 year predicted life span.
